For Local Blog
So Baby and I were at the Dollar Tree a few days ago (the real social center for moms in my part of town. Because damn! Everything's a dollar!) when I saw the pregnancy tests advocated by Jamie (who swears that they really do work). Since my period was a few days late (Okay, ten days late), I decided to pick up a few.
Of course, I knew I couldn't possibly be pregnant (I just went off the pill a month ago and it takes an average of six months to get pregnant after quitting the pill). But still. If I took a pregnancy test, I could drink a beer while I made dinner without feeling guilty.
Baby and I got home (Hubs and the girls were at an evening soccer camp) and I started dinner. And amid all the chopping and mixing, I took the test. (I mean, I washed my hands before and after, though. I swear.) And immediately, two lines appeared.
I looked at the directions. I looked at the directions again. And again. And again. And again. I looked at the directions for 15 minutes. I had to be reading them wrong.
"Wass wrong, Mommy?" Baby asked from her highchair.
"I. I. I'll be right back," I said. I grabbed another pregnancy test and headed for the bathroom.
Again. Two lines.
I burst into tears.
I'm. PREGNANT!
