Perfect Post Awards
Wow! October already! And that brings us to another edition of the Perfect Post Awards, a time for bloggers to award their favorite blog post from the preceding month.
Occasionally, I happen across criticism of the Perfect Post Awards. "Awards are stupid," the naysayers, well, neigh. "Those stupid Perfect Post Awards are a popularity contest, blah blah blah." To all naysayers I offer a mighty harumph. The whole point of these "awards" is that anyone can give one out. It's not about getting, it's about giving (although, obviously, it's nice to get one, too). But to me, it's nicer to reward someone for writing a great post than to sit around complaining about why no one's sending you a silly button code. And, um, speaking of button codes...

Isn't it pretty? My co-host, Kimberly, makes these every month. She's so smart and talented. And so is Rachel, otherwise known as SJ, who's receiving my silly Perfect Post Awards button this month.
Rachel had the nerve to take down her wildly popular Sarcastic Journalist site and go in an entirely different direction. She has launched The Simple Family, where she is detailing her family's efforts to conserve and re-use and recycle and simplify and all that good stuff. I am totally impressed that Rachel had the courage to follow her passion and branch out with her blogging, rather than relying the success of her Sarcastic Journalist site. And honestly, even though I'm ashamed to say I'm one of the most un-green people out there, I find myself reading The Simple Family all the time. Rachel is a great writer and she has already inspired me in just one short month to do away with clutter and to mop my kitchen floor with a vinegar water solution. She's like the Fly Lady, if the Fly Lady were a sarcastic journalist!
Anyway, I have awarded Rachel's first post at The Simple Family, but check out the whole site. It's kind of addictive. And be sure and check out the other Perfect Post Award winners. You'll be glad you did.

I love reading these every month. Thanks for hosting!
Hmmm...nobody picked me :(
I didnt pick anyone either....how do I put in my nomination for next month? is there a process or do people just know to email you at the end of the month?
BTW, your McSeries or Flushgate or whatever, was the funniest thing I read all month, basically because that gal that wrote you was so uptight that I got a picture of a stick-up-the-rear, tart-faced snot, that was so real, all from your exchange. And...it also made it hilarious to see you NOT CAVE and hold your own, and then some.
Looking forward to reading all the faves.
I'm shocked that someone would say that WE were silly. How cheesy is that?
Wow. Do you read all these every month? Or have I missed the point and can we all nominate someone?
Kim, e-mail me at suburban.turmoil@yahoo.com and I'll add you to the mailing list. You'll get full instructions on how to participate toward the end of the month.
Potty Mummy, anyone can participate in giving out an award, simply by joining the mailing list.
ME? REALLY? Wow. Thank you. And also thank you for the hints about apple cider vinegar killing fruit flies.
I love this list each month as it exposes me to some blogs I never may have found otherwise. Always a great read! Thanks for putting it together.
Nobody picked me. That's it. I'm through.
I'm starting my own "Imperfect Post" awards.
Wow, that is a radical list.
I can't find the original reference to using vinegar to kill fruit flies. Will you please review for those of us who weren't paying attention in class? Thanks!
I just pour apple cider vinegar to the halfway point in a jar, put in a few drops of dish soap and fill the jar the rest of the way with water. It has gotten rid of every fruit fly. I pour a little out and refill every so often, because they seem to get stuck in the bubbles. I saw another person recommend that you make a cone out of paper with a 3/4"- 1" hole in the top and let that rest on top of the jar. The fruit flies go in and can't find their way out. That might work even better.
I really enjoy the Perfect Post Awards. To hell with those that don't. I love the SJ as well and also have come to love her new place.
Keep up the good work! ;)
Yay! I love reading these, thanks!
